Family Partner

Family Partner Program

Faison’s Family Partner Program is an amazing new residential option for Virginia families. This unique community living approach is based upon nationally regarded models. In this model, a person with intellectual and/or developmental disabilities is matched with a professional family partner in a single-family home. Often the professional family partner has a long-term relationship with the person to be supported, although sometimes this relationship is cultivated over time prior to a home placement. A Family Partner home is developed in full partnership with the natural family, the professional family partner, and Faison.

How It Works

Professional family partners participate in best practice training, regular in-home coaching and oversight. This respected program assures persons supported are living enriched, inclusive lives within the community and are achieving important outcomes that make a meaningful difference in the everyday lives of persons served.

Outcome measures include healthy living, community inclusion, learning new skills, natural family satisfaction, and much more. As a result, individuals supported by professional families generally live happier, healthier, and more enriched lives where new skills are learned and challenging behaviors are effectively and positively improved across time.

Who Are Family Partners?

Family Partners make a lifestyle choice to pursue a full-time career with a tax-free salary in their home by inviting a young adult with autism or other developmental disability to join their family and share their lives.  Family Partners provide a caring and structured home life, in partnership with Faison and the individual's natural family. This career choice provides Family Partner with flexibility to stay home with their children, or pursue creative interests, for example, as most individuals served attend day programs such as Faison's Adult Day Services.

Family-Focused Professional Support Systems

The Family Partner model implements a number of critical support services to ensure the success of each person served and also to ensure the happiness of professional families. These include services provided by Faison’s Board Certified Behavior Analysts, health professionals, and supports provided and arranged by Faison’s Adult Day Services program, which provides inclusive, community-based services, and opportunities for professional and natural families.

Family Matters

The natural family is encouraged to have involvement with professional family partners and Faison at every level as we make a meaningful difference in the lives of individuals served and their families.
